Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain has issued a law amending tenancy law in the emirate.Under the amended law, landlords will not be allowed to increase rents of commercial and industrial properties by more than 10 per cent of the annual rent value .As for residential properties, the annual rent should not exceed seven per cent of the rental value stated in the contract. The law also outlines instances where tenants should be asked to vacate the property before the expiry of their contracts. The law further empowers the committee overseeing tenancy disputes , making its verdicts final and binding. Source
