Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency at RTA, said that the RTA was reviewing the current fare system. “Passengers will be charged for two destinations at the most and we do not want the fare to be more than the people can afford,” he explained.
“We are also planning to fix fares in a way that they can be used for all modes of transport,” he said adding that people will be able to use the same fare even if they are changing modes of transport. “For example, if someone travels using the bus and then the metro, then abra and so on, the passenger can use the same fare without having to pay separate fares for each way for travelling,” he explained.
